Royal College of Surgeons

Quincentenary Conference Centre

The venue for the 8th International Symposium on 14C & Archaeology will be the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. The venue is ideally situated in the heart of Edinburgh, a few blocks from the Royal Mile and just 10 minutes walk from the Castle.

The main conference venue, the Quincentenary Conference Centre, was purpose-built in 2006, and will be the location of the activities during the day. The courtyard to the front will be available for lunch, spirited discussions with colleagues, or just relaxing. There is wi-fi available for free to conference attendees throughout the building.

Whisky in the Fellows Library

The Playfair Building will host many of the activities planned in the evenings throughout the week. These include the opening drinks reception, a whisky tasting evening, and the conference dinner. There will also be out-of-hours access to the Museum of Surgery and Dental Surgery. Definitely one museum in Edinburgh that should not be missed!!!

In addition to the evening events on offer at the Royal College of Surgeons there will be a programme of day and evening tours made available. We hope to be able include such things as the Edinburgh Ghost Tour and guided visits to the National Museum of Scotland to view the archaeological collections.

More information will be made available as the conference date approaches. So be sure to sign up for notifications.
